Invitation to Worship

Call to Worship

L: It is easy to stand here in the valley of our comfort.
P: We know what to expect and what is expected of us.
L: But Christ calls us to the mountaintop to receive a new vision.
P: We are not sure we are ready for that.
L: Place your hope and trust in Christ, for He is your guide.
P: Let us open our hearts to Christ; ready for the vision he places before us. AMEN.

Prayer of Invocation

The darkness of winter has been our companion, Lord. Now the days are lengthening. Bring your light to us, that we might see your glory and may work for you, offering hope and peace to this world. We ask this, in Jesus’ Name. AMEN.

Hymn: #35R When Morning Gilds the Skies

Prayer of Confession

Hidden God of clouds, we confess that we would trust you more if you would speak to us in words that we could clearly understand and with messages that please us. The mystery confuses, and driven to silence we fear how uninformed we may appear to others when we simply cannot speak. Amen.

Words of Assurance

The good news is that God forgives us and gives us Christ to light our way in the world. Thanks be to God. Amen.

Lord’s Prayer: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power and the glory forever Amen.
