Call to Worship

L: Take courage! Do not fear to serve God.
P: But we feel unworthy. We think that God wants people of greater stature and talent.
L: God has placed God’s hand upon your heart!
P: Forgive us, God, when we doubt your call.
L: Rejoice in the Lord always!
P: God’s praise shall continually be present in our lives. AMEN.!

Prayer of Invocation

God of love and compassion, you have called us to rise from our lethargy and be about the work you have placed before us. Give us courage, resourcefulness, strength and joy in the work that we do that our lives may reflect your love and presence with us. For we ask this in Jesus’ Name. AMEN.

Hymn: #251R Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty

Children’s Church

Prayer of Confession

God of new directions, we confess that it’s easier to affirm you and serve you at a distance. We are happy to nod to our belief in you and to applaud those who make it their full-time business to tend to your affairs. But we are concerned with how few fish we’re catching, and if you could just help us fill our nets a time or two, we’ll keep doing what we’ve been doing; we will be perfectly content. Well, content enough. Amen.

Words of Assurance

Do not be afraid to work for the Lord, who has forgiven and healed your wounds. God’s love will pour from you to all whom you meet. Be at peace with yourself and with God. AMEN.

Dedication of Our Gifts

Selfless God, these fish we net feed us and our families and keep our rent paid. What is hard for us to see is that out of our catches there has to be food enough to stop the horrid deaths of 16,000 children who die every day in our world from hunger-related causes. We would give in such a way that such an atrocity is put to a stop once and for all. Amen.
